Every trip to Seoul wouldn’t be complete without visiting one of Seoul’s favorite area, Garosu-gil. Garosu-gil literally means “tree-lined street” as ginkgo trees are lining up along the street. Garosu-gil lies at the wealthy neighbourhood of Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu. You may find many fancy cafes, lifestyle boutiques, cosmetic shop, and also several international clothing brands. Most people visit Garosu-gil for cafe-hopping, window shopping, or just simply people watching. You will definitely fall in love with the ambience that Garosu-gil has to offer. The ginkgo trees look best during the autumn season as the leaves of the ginkgo trees turned golden. I failed to witness such beauty since I came during the winter season, all the leaves has fall out.
I’ve managed to visit one of the cafe in Garosu-gil, which is Ginkgo Avenue. The cafe, which was on the 2nd floor, offers a quiet and cozy ambiance with pretty and colorful decoration.
Wah praktis deh pokoknya tinggal kilk klik klik dan selesai, piece of cake. Bagaimana dengan rasanya? Enaaaakkkk…bener-bener khas masakan rumahan, ga terlalu gurih gimana gitu yang biasa indikasi dari penggunaan msg. Totally recommended deh menurutku… #bukanreviewberbayarya
I and Mr.D don’t celebrate Valentine’s day…but it’s fun to see how the stores, restaurant, and all of the surrounding dressed up for the occasion. So Mr.D asked me to go for a dinner after office hours that Friday, and off we went to Senayan City. We chose to have our dinner at JJ Royal Bistro, which has been known as one of the hip restaurant to go to right now.
JJ Royal bistro is an elegant restaurant and bar that managed by Foodie Habit Group, the same group that produce Gulaku and JJ Royal coffee. JJ Royal Bistro is located at the ground floor of Senayan City. JJ Royal was decorated with distinctive eclectic manga inspired interior design, colorful walls, chairs, and lights. Not to mention there’s a lot of paintings of a Chinese girl. Here at JJ Royal we can choose from a variety of delicious traditional Indonesian dishes as well as Western dishes.
Since this is our first visit, we don’t want to order too many foods considering we still kinda blind with the portion size. So straight to the main course… Continue reading
While waiting for our movie schedule starts, we’re wander around Plaza Indonesia trying to find a decent place to eat. Passing through Yo Panino and instantly our mind clicked, and decided to grab our dinner there. Yo Panino claimed themself as a sandwich specialist. They serve a fresh baked bread with lots of choice of fillings, toppings, add ons, and saucesomes.
The concept here is pretty much simple…we choose the ingredient for the sandwich and they will craft it for us.
- Pick Yo’ Bread –> There are four choices of bread : Turkish Pide (moist & light with toasted sesame seeds), Multigrain (healthy choice of rolled oats, flax, sesame, sunflower seeds), Farmhouse White (artisinally soft with a touch of salt), Brioche (soft & sweet), and Naked (try it as a salad).
- Choose Your Panino or Salad –> We choose the sandwich fillings, there are 21 types to choose from such as angry chicken, ultimate BLT, philly cheese steak, etc.
- Pick Add Ons –> There are six choices of add ons: fried egg, sliced cheddar, cheese sauce, crispy bacon, smoked ham, and spicy salami.
- Choose from Unlimited Toppings –> ranging from standard toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, to fried wontons, crushed tacos, and gherkins. Be strategic and smart in choosing the toppings, don’t try to have everything, it may cause your sandwich into a disaster.
- Choose from Unlimited Awesome Saucesomes –> This is the best part!!! Yo Panino has 6 sauce choices which are Yo’Barbie-Q (a homemade hickory smoked oozy barbecue sauce), Yo’Aioli (no kisses after this garlic baby), Yo’Java (fresh roasted peanuts slowly simmered with a unique blend of spiced herbs), Yo’Angry (our angry but no so fierce mayo), Yo’Wasabi (a versatile combination of fresh wasabi and creamy mayonnaise), and Yo’Sesame (a funky blend of shoyu and sesame sauce all bound together with a tad of mayo. This is our Asian-inspired mayonnaise).
Yo Panino also served menu with local taste like Beef Rendang Panino, Java Tempe Salad Panino, and Up The Tempe Panino. That night I opted for Angry Chicken Panino (43k) with Farmhouse white bread and 3 toppings (lettuce, tomato, crushed wontons). It was delicious!!!! Greatly satisfying … the size of the sandwich is perfect, not too big nor too small. The sliced chicken breast was huge, and very savoury, me likey. The crushed wontons gave a crispy crunchy sensation, not your regular experience in eating a sandwich right?! The sauce was not that spicy either, Mr.D still manage to overcome the heat 😀
Mr. D ordered Grilled chicken Panino value combo meal (57k) with Turkish Pide bread, sliced cheddar (add ons), sweet corn for topping. The combo meal was accompanied with regular fries and chilled drink. Mr.D also felt satisfied with his order. The grilled chicken breast was tender and tasty. He said we should be a regular here. Errr…okey?!
As an overall, Yo Panino is a great sandwich place to try. The pricing was a bit on the high end (but definitely worth it), the service was pleasant, the ingredients were fresh and the end product was definitely tasty.

This review is a bit long overdue…I’ll try to jot it down while I still can remember. Anyway, one friday evening I and several colleagues went to Fish & Co Seafood Shack located in Grand Indonesia west wing. The place was not that big, a bit cramped if I must say, but luckily that day turnout to be less crowded. The restaurant is decorated like a seaside restaurant.
There are lots of fish and chip varieties in the menu, ranging from the original fish and chips to peri-peri sauce fish and chips. The fish and chips itself served in a pan, kinda unique presentation huh?! Anyway, that evening I opted for their combo menu which is Seafood Shack Combo (65k) – Soup of the day, Fish & Chips (choose from 4 varieties), and Ice Tea/Blackcurrant Tea.
The soup of the day was mushroom soup. It tasted ok, creamy and savoury.
However, I felt a bit dissapointed with my fish and chips. I opted for Peri-peri sauce fish and chips, in my vision the sauce would tasted spicy and sour just like the grilled chicken Peri-peri in Nando’s. But it turns out different that I would’ve expected. The peri-peri was absolutely different, it resembles more like your mother’s homemade ‘sambal’. It didn’t taste like peri-peri sauce to me, not even close. Luckily, the tastiness of the fried fish fillet itself managed to overcome the drawbacks. Oh and by the way, the fish cutlet sold here was smaller than the ones in Fish & Co, but it was a much more suitable portion for me.
All in all it was a great experience. I just have to remember that next time stick to ordering original fish and chips.

Still in the occasion of Mr.D’s birthday, we continued our journey that night to find desserts to satisfy our taste buds. To be honest, we planned to visit Colette & Lola for the desserts, however the cakes has run out so we ended up in Yeyo instead. But it’s not a misfortune, we didn’t regret it all.
Yeyo is a two storey eatery with diners on the lower level and lounge on the upper level. Yeyo brings out chic tropical vintage on their decoration. Slanted glass façade at the front of the building has stolen our attention as we stepped into the restaurant. Wooden furniture combined with rattan chairs, flowery decals on sofas cushion, pictures of celebrity in the 50s, and several mini palm trees that was put in every corner really brings out the tropical vintage ambience. However, just a slight negative from me is regarding their smoking policy. Yeyo don’t separate between smoking and non smoking area… so it’s really annoying for me to have someone smoking sits next to me.
So what’s the occasion? It’s Mr. D’s birthday…yeaay….another celebration dinner, me likey. I’ve prepared my tummy since morning for this birthday feast, hahahaha.
Portico is a restaurant and bar specializing in Italian cuisine. Portico is located in ground floor of Senayan City with terrace style setting and open view. The restaurant used transparent looking glass for the walls so I could only imagine how hot it would be in the daytime, geez. Luckily, we went to Portico for dinner, so the atmosphere was nicer, more intimate and romantic. Plus since it’s holiday season, we could enjoy all the lights decoration that was sprung along the street of Asia Africa. Besides Italian cuisines, Portico also served several Asian menus such as Oxtail soup and etc.
